Friday, Sept. 16 UBC lacrosse returns 15 players as roster is finalized, Adanacs on deck for season opener

With tryouts finished, and the fall season beginning tomorrow, the UBC Thunderbirds lacrosse club are gearing up to defend their 2015-16 CWFLL Tier II provincial title. Last spring the Thunderbirds went undefeated in the spring en-route to earning their first provincial championship, defeating Victoria Axmen 7-6 in the final. This season, the Thunderbirds return 15 players, including their leading scorer Phil Pomeroy, and senior goaltender standout Dean Grimm. To the nucleus from last seasons team, they add five new members, including freshman Nick Schatz (midfield), Lorenzo Malana (attack), Tyler Moncreiff (defense), junior Spencer Schoen (midfield) and welcome the return of Junior midfielder Andy Stewart. Team captains  Mitchell Kitt, Mack Craighead, Tomas Syskakis and James McKenzie will lead the charge as the the Thunderbirds open their CWFLL season in New Westminster versus the Coquitlam Adanacs.
