Start the New Year Off Strong with Free Week

With only one week into 2017, New Year’s resolutions are still going strong! Come join us during UBC Recreation Free Week to kickstart your goals for the new year. Free Week is a chance for new and returning students, staff & faculty, and the general public to try out any instructor-led classes with UBC Recreation.

With so many new and exciting classes each day, here are a few you might not have heard about yet:

  • If you’re someone who likes to dance but wants to learn something new, try Dancehall, a genre of Jamaican popular music and dance, at 9:15 pm on Wednesday.
  • For those who like to get up and get moving, Early Bird Boot Camp happens on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday at 7 am.
  • If you want to de-stress in an equally relaxing atmosphere, try Candlelit Movement at 7 on Sunday evening.
  • If martials arts is more appealing, Iaido, a Japanese martial art that focuses on being aware and responding quickly, happens at 6 pm on Tuesday and 9:30 am on Saturday.

This is just a small sample of some of the classes available to try during this year’s Free Week. Challenge yourself this new year to try something new and get active!

If you like the classes you try, sign up to secure your place for the rest of the term! The full schedule and additional information may be found here.
