SkiBird Race Report: Slalom in Mt. Hood Meadows, OR

The SkiBirds are back from the second conference race of the season in Mt. Hood Meadows, OR, where the two days of sunshine made for a very pleasant competition. Strong winds on the second day added an extra challenge, but the teams rallied – on Saturday, the men earned a strong second place finish overall, lead by Cameron Hale (5th). Ryan Chiricosta and Bryan Cadman slid in just 0.18 seconds apart to earn 12th and 13th places, respectively. The women finished the first day in third place, with Lauren Hale (6th), Michele Warner (9th) and Jennifer Boughner (13th) leading the team. Molly Voltz came in at 17th place, with Maija Wootton and Eva Streitz close behind in 19th and 20th places, respectively.

On Sunday, Cameron Hale stole the show with a 2nd place combined finish, moving from 5th place in the first run of the day to winning the second run! Bryan Cadman slid in 14th place in the men’s race, and Jackson Hamersley in 28th to earn the men’s team 6th place.  The women’s team had a very strong second day, lead by Lauren Hale (4th), Michele Warner (6th) and Jen Boughner (7th). Maija Wootton and Molly Voltz finished neck-and-neck with final combined times of 1:50.08 and 1:50.24, earning them 19th and 20th placings, respectively.
