Reino Keski-Salmi Loppet 2017

On January 13th, three nordic skiers from UBC headed out to the Reino Keski-Salmi loppet in Salmon Arm. The conditions were chilly, at -16 degrees C, but proved to be perfect for a long classic ski. The 34 kilometre course was rolling and fast, and proved to be a great first race of the season.

Alumni Nico Petch took a 4th place finish in the 18-29 year old men, with a time of 1:49:18. Evgeniy Panzhinskiy, a diabetes researcher at UBC, took a 4th place finish in the 30-39 year old category, with a time of 1:51:51. Student and UBC Nordic Team member Blakely Browne took an 8th place finish in the 18-29 year old group, with a time of 1:55:41.
