Douglas Bowl V Recap

On the last weekend of reading week both the men’s and women’s ultimate teams headed over to the island for the fifth annual Douglas Bowl against the University of Victoria Vixens. Following a close 15-13 win for the UBC men’s team, the women’s team took the field as the winds increased and temperature dropped. The T-Birds started the game on offense with an early point from Ellen Au-Yeung on a veteran offensive line. From there, UBC flashed different zone looks and tuned in on their man defense to stifle to UVIC offense. The game ended 15-3 for the Thunderbirds with strong performances from Judith Yeo, Janelle Siwa, and Serena Tam – who effortlessly sliced through the Vixen’s zone defense. Despite the chilly conditions, both teams enjoyed another spirited installment in the classic Canadian rivalry.
