Tips and Tricks for Day of the Longboat

Day of the Longboat is fast approaching and you’re probably not ready. Here are our best tips and tricks to get you prepped for the big day!

 

1. Go to your assigned clinic! Our staff will set you up in a boat for the first time, teach you how best to start the race, outline the route of the race so there’s no confusion the day of, and most importantly, make sure you know how to avoid tipping! Trust us, people end up in the water every year, so make sure you attend your clinic so it isn’t you!

2. Check your race time and be EARLY. There’s nothing worse than missing your race, or being the last one to show up and letting your team down. Make sure you know your race time and give yourself extra time to get there.

3. Eat well and stay hydrated! Carbo-load the night before and have lots of protein in the morning. You want to be fully energized for a full day of activity and fun. Also, make sure you bring a water bottle to the event to stay hydrated throughout the day.

4. Choose your navigator wisely! Pick the person in your team who feels most confident in a leadership role and can keep your team on the most direct path to the finish line.

5. Start off strong! Establishing dominance at the beginning of the race can give you an early lead and set you apart from the competition.
