Highlights from Lace Up For Kids 2017

The 10th annual Lace Up For Kids was a huge success thanks to all of the kind people that donated their money and time to this great event. We had a blast fundraising with all of you for the Rare Disease Foundation & BC Children’s Hospital Foundation in support of children with rare diseases and their families. Here’s a recap of some of the highlights that left us with great memories!

Donations

We raised $23,484 thanks to all of your donations and participation in the event! But, we’re not stopping there, so feel free to keep donating here.

Musical Performances

So many great musical performers came out to the event, including UBC A Cappella and Ashley Reyes and Grieko Geronimo.

Arts & Crafts

So many of our younger participants had a blast making beautiful works of art for a good cause.

Hanging Out with Mason

This year’s Lace Up child, Mason Ashton, who suffers from Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, was in attendance and in high spirits for this super fun night. Catch a glimpse of his story here.

UBC Improv’s Performance

UBC Improv gave us so many great laughs at Lace Up. They’re always huge supporters of this annual event and we’re so appreciative.

Silent Auction

We had 45 great silent auction items that raised almost $4000 alone! The silent auction featured prizes from companies such as Arcteryx, BC Lions, and restaurants like Joe Fortes, The Keg, and Burgoo.

UBC Figure Skating Club’s Performance

UBC Figure Skating Club started off the night with a mesmerizing ice performance, and stuck around to skate with us later on as well!

Hugs with Sunny the Bear

Sunny the Bear was a huge hit! All of the kids (and adults) loved hanging out with him and skating with him on the ice.

Skating For The First Time!

Many of our younger participants tried skating for the first time at Lace Up For Kids, and it was certainly an adorable sight to see!

Face Paint

What better way to get in the spirit of Lace Up than to get your face painted? We had an entire station dedicated to face paint that was a huge hit with our younger and older participants.

Spending Time with Family & Friends

The best part of the event was giving participants the opportunity to have a fun night with their friends and family. We certainly saw lots of hugs and smiles throughout the entire evening!

The donation page is still live, so please keep the kindness coming! Make a difference in a child’s life and donate here. Every dollar counts in the fight against rare diseases.
