5 Classes to try this Free Week

UBC Recreation’s Free Week is happening January 8 – 14!  Try any instructional, fitness, and aquatics class running for free!  Not sure what to try?  Here are 5 classes you won’t want to miss this Free Week.

Ju Jutsu

Monday & Wednesday 6:00 – 7:25 pm, Saturday 11:00 – 12:25 am | SRC Dojo

Classical Ju Jutsu is the close-quarter combat system developed over the centuries by Japanese warriors. Emphasis is on grappling techniques, but also includes striking, and the use of a variety of classical weapons such as the sword, dagger, and staff.

Aqua Yoga

Monday 8:30 – 9:15 am, Thursday 2:15 – 3:15 pm | UBC Aquatic Centre

Rekindle the connection between Mind, Body and Soul to the water in this warm-water Yoga class. Loosen muscles and joints, increase flexibility and improve balance through hydrostatic pressure and breathing techniques. Taught by a certified Yoga instructor.

Latin Funk

Thursday 12:30 – 1:25 pm | Ponderosa

Before any other Latin Dance fitness class came in the scene there was Latin Funk dance!  The original tropical blend of six different Latin styles with cool splash of Funk dance! Get Fit Latin Style!  Created by Dance Coach & Choreographer Gustavo Ferman.

Get Wet & Sweat

Friday 10:00 – 10:45 am | UBC Aquatic Centre

A combination of shallow and deep water classes that focus on cardio endurance, core stabilization, strength, balance, and flexibility. You choose the depth and take it to your own personal level of exertion! Participants of all ages and levels of fitness are welcome. This class is offered in the Recreation Pool.

K-Pop Dance

Sunday 8:00 – 8:55 pm | SRC Studio

K-Pop contains elements of western pop, dance, electronic, R&B and hip-hop. Having taken North America by storm, K-Pop dance is a mix of hip-hop styles and sass set to Korean Pop music.
