Classes Around Your Schedule
Break up your workday and get moving! We go out of our way to provide opportunities for both mental and physical wellness for faculty and staff on campus. Register for a class that fits into your schedule. Early morning yoga, pilates at noon, dance, and martial arts are just a few examples of how we design our programming to encourage a positive and healthy workplace.
UBC Movement Co.
A free social club designed to help you get moving and meet new people in a fun and comfortable environment. The Movement Co. allows you to try out different activities including Day of the Longboat, swimming, fitness classes, guided walks and runs, Zumba, yoga, and more.
Get started with fitness
New to fitness and want to get started? Exercise can increase your energy and help reduce stress, but if you’re new to fitness it isn’t always an easy taking those first few steps. The BirdCoop Fitness Centre has programming designed for individuals looking at getting started with fitness. Find your way to fitness and learn more about recreation at UBC!
Try something new and meet new people with common interests! With free drop in for instructional, aquatics, and fitness classes running from January 9 – 15, there’s something for everyone. Be sure to register for your favourite classes early to be guaranteed a spot! No experience is required for any of the classes and all abilities are welcomed. Step It Up
Join us for free guided walks over your lunch hour throughout the term! whether you’re trying to build your overall sense of wellbeing, reduce stress, make new friends, or reduce your risks of cancer or cardiovascular disease, walking can help you on your way. Our walking programs are free or inexpensive, and designed for all student, staff, faculty, and community members.
Lunchtime Staff & Faculty Drop-In Volleyball
Get moving during your lunch break! Register for our new staff & faculty lunchtime volleyball league. The perfect balance between drop-in and competitive leagues, join in on weekly games. Teams are adjustable, so you don’t need to put up together a whole team to register. Sign-up as an individual, meet new people and play the sport you love without the commitment of a regular team.
Intramural leagues offer unique opportunities to have fun, be active, and meet new people on campus. With a variety of competition levels and sports, there is a league for every interest. These leagues are open to staff & faculty, as well as students. If you’re looking for more flexibility, join a Casual League, currently offered for soccer and ice hockey.
Staff/Faculty Discounts at UBC Camps
From sports and swimming, to crafts and museums, UBC Camps offers a variety of fun and exciting camps to keep your child active on Pro-D days and over the winter break. Discounts are available for all UBC Staff & Faculty!
UBC’s Healthy Workplace Initiative Program
UBC’s Healthy Workplace Initiative Program awards funding to UBC departments and units to promote wellbeing in the workplace. Reach out to us at firstname.lastname@example.org about any partnership opportunities with your department and we can create a series of classes that you can bring right to your workplace.
