From intramural leagues and events like Storm the Wall, to our Birdcoop Fitness Centre, UBC Recreation has a long history of fun and unique activities that will enhance your university experience. Your student fees get you access to free public skating, swimming, drop-in sports, as well as discounted rates for recreation programs, classes, leagues, events, and memberships. From trying something you’ve never done before to keeping up your favourite fitness routine, UBC Recreation has something for you.

Intramurals

From single day events like On The button Curling Bonspiel and Storm the Wall, to being part of a team and participating weekly in your favourite sport, Intramurals are an integral part of the UBC student experience.

Movement Co.

This group is about finding ways to get moving that aren’t intimidating or overwhelming. From bouldering to skating to tennis to trail walking to Aquacises, signing up for the Movement Co. will help you find a way to make movement fun while meeting new people!

Birdcoop Memberships

UBC Student memberships include the use of the BirdCoop Fitness Centre and the Climbing Cave any time it is open. You can purchase passes for 1 or 2 terms as well as daily drop-in passes. UBC student memberships must be purchased in-person at the BirdCoop in order to confirm student eligibility.

Free Week

Try something new and meet new people with common interests! With free drop in for instructional, aquatics, and fitness classes running from January 9-15, there’s something for everyone. Be sure to register for your favourite classes early to be guaranteed a spot! No experience is required for any of the classes and all abilities are welcomed. Check out the schedule to find the right class for you.

Gladiator

Looking for a challenge of mind, body, and team? Prefer “unconventional” activities? Then come play with us at Gladiator! This event is filled with non-stop action, guaranteed laughter, and the crowning of UBC’s very own Gladiator. 

Yoga Rave

Wear your bright clothes, bring your yoga mat (or borrow one for free) and join this FREE Yoga Rave with free glow in the dark paint and blacklights. It’s going to be an event to remember, designed for fun, and all abilities. Space and extra mats are limited, so arrive early to ensure your spot. 

UBC INTRAMURALS STUDENT STAFF 2017/18

UBC Recreation is looking for great people to join its team of volunteers for 2017/18. Through its intramurals program, UBC Recreation offers multiple opportunities to get involved as a student volunteer. These positions are designed to fit into your student schedule with flexible hours. Intramurals student staff recruitment and hiring for 2017/18 begins in January 2017.

Discounted Tennis Courts

Bring your tennis game indoors and out of the rain at the UBC Tennis Centre. With discounts of over 50% off the public rate, UBC students can book courts to practice on their own or play a match with some friends. Learn more about our court booking prices and find a time that suits your schedule. *Bookings must be made in person with your UBC ID to ensure the discounted rate.

Drop-in

Drop-in sports provide an easy way to be physically active. UBC Recreation offers a variety of activities on a daily basis, including free options for current UBC students. Find a time that suits your schedule on our drop-in schedules

Free Swim

UBC Recreation Swimming

As a UBC student, you are entitled to free drop-in swims at the Aquatic Centre. Check out the schedule for the Aquatic Centre HERE 

Storm the Wall

Are you ready for one of UBC’s most iconic experiences? Swim, sprint, bike, run & STORM THE WALL! Participate as a Competitive or Just-for-Fun team, or challenge yourself to do the whole course on your own as an Iron Person. A fun & exciting UBC tradition!

Free Public Skating

All current UBC students can drop-in for free public skating at the Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre. Just show up with your skates and your student card and you’re good to go! If you don’t have skates, rentals are available for $4.00
