UBC Aquatic Centre Closures | March 25 & 26

The UBC Aquatic Centre will close at 8:30pm this weekend – Saturday March 25 & Sunday March 26.

This closure will affect the previously scheduled Toonie Swims and the Drop-In AquaFit on Sunday.  The facility staff apologize for any inconvenience this schedule change may cause.

Patrons are invited to consult the facility drop-in calendar prior to any visit to the facility.

No hot water available at the Student Recreation Centre

UPDATED March 15, 2017 at 2:30PM: Hot water is now working at the Student Recreation Centre

We are currently experiencing issues at the Student Recreation Centre with our hot water. There is currently no hot water available in the facility. We are looking into this problem and will post an update when we can. Apologies for any inconveniences this may cause.

UBC Power Outage – UBC Recreation Facilities are resuming operations

Power has been restored so all facilities are now operating at their regular operations. Thank you for your patience and we apologize for any inconveniences this may have caused.

UBC Power Outage – UBC Recreation Facilities are closed until further notice

There is a power outage at UBC that is affecting all of our facilities on campus and therefore these facilities are closed until further notice. We will post an update when power has been restored.

Facilities included in the closure are:
– Student Recreation Centre
– War Memorial Gym
– UBC Aquatic Centre
– UBC Tennis Centre
– Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre

Ballet 1 and Ballet 2 classes CANCELLED | January 15, 2017

Please note that Ballet 1 (4-5:30PM) and Ballet 2 (5:30-7PM) classes in the Student Recreation Centre Studio on Sunday, January 15 have unfortunately been cancelled for this week. The classes will resume next weekend at the same times, and those classes will be offered for free in lieu of this weeks free classes for Free Week. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

 

BootCamp for Beginners CANCELLED | January 9, 2017

Please note that today’s BootCamp for Beginners class at 5PM (Ponderosa) has unfortunately been cancelled. The class will resume on Wednesday at the same time. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Participants are welcome to try the Coop Combo BootCamp in the Student Recreation Centre Studio at 5:30PM instead – all entirely free for Free Week!

Aquatic Centre Steam Room Not in Service

We are experiencing mechanical issues with the steam room in the current Aquatic Centre. As a result, it is not in service until further notice.

We are investigating repairs to get the steam room back online until the New UBC Aquatic Centre opens in January. We will continue to prepare the new pool so that our patrons can use the facility to its’ full extent.

The hot tub is now back online as of December 22, 2016.

Weather Advisory | Student Recreation Centre open for exams on Dec 19, 2016

As per the UBC Website Exams at 3:30 and 7 p.m. will go ahead today on the UBC Point Grey campus. Transit service and road conditions to and from campus are improving, but please give yourself extra time for the commute.

Therefore, the Student Recreation Centre will be opening for those exam times. The only entrances open to the facility will be the exam doors directly into the gymnasiums. The general operations of the SRC and the BirdCoop Fitness Centre will remain closed for the day.
