Intramural Leagues Tier Explanation

UBC Recreation provides a variety of competitive tiers for our leagues. These tiers are within each of the three competitive Team Structures. Please note that not all tier options are offered for all leagues. Please check the “League Overview” tab for an outline of what tiers are offered.

Tier 1

The highest level of Intramural Leagues competition. All games are officiated with the exception of Ultimate (which is never officiated) and players should have significant experience in this sport.

Tier 2

Middle level of competitive leagues. This tier is available in all leagues, but not necessarily all team structure categories within those leagues, depending on the number of teams in each category. All games are officiated with the exception of Ultimate (which is never officiated) and players should have moderate-to-high experience in this sport.

Tier 3

Lowest level of competitive leagues. This tier is not available in all leagues, depending on the number of teams in each category. Players at this tier can be beginners, but some basic understanding of the sport is recommended. In this tier all games are officiated with the exception of Volleyball. Volleyball Tier 3 games are only officiated in playoffs.

Once you have selected your tier

Your last step is to move onto UBC Community Affiliations to decide if you want to represent your residence, faculty, etc. as an Intramural Participant.
