Hockey

This program is designed for intermediate hockey players. There is a strong focus on specialized instruction for all aspects of skating including: edge control, explosive starts, acceleration, balance and forward / backward crossovers. The Hockey skills component will focus on puck control, passing, shooting, stick-handling and spacing concepts.

This program is designed for players with some prior hockey experience. There is a strong emphasis on skating technique including: cross-overs, stopping, pivoting and backward skating. Sessions will also focus on instruction in the fundamentals of puck control, passing and shooting.

UBC Hockey and Skating Development is offering Private and Semi Private Training for youth and adults. This program’s main purpose is specific to the customer’s developmental needs. Our professional instructors will teach all skating and hockey skills depending on what each individual is looking to improve on. Skating

A fun approach to learning to skate, designed for adults with limited or no experience. We will focus on familiarizing you to the ice and arena environment and take you through the natural progressions of balance and gliding. When registering, you will be prompted to select a “Level” which is closest to your ability: Level 1: First time on ice with no previous experience Level 2: Limited experience, trouble standing on skates, walking/shuffling on skates Level 3: Stand, Skate & Glide on two feet, unassisted Level 4: Skate & Glide one foot at a time, two foot stop, beginning to skate backwards Level 5: Gliding backwards skating, introduction to backwards crossover Skates and CSA approved helmet are required. It is recommended to wear gloves or hockey gloves.
