Adult Rowing Programs

Adult and Student rowing programs are available for those with and without previous rowing experience. Program offerings and descriptions are available below. For further information, please contact programs.ubcboathouse@ubc.ca .


This on-water learn to row program will guide participants through the basics of rowing and prepare them to be ready to join the Adult Rowing League upon completion of the lessons if interested. The program consists of four 1.5 hour lessons are offered in a 1-on-1 format. Lessons can be booked to suit flexible schedules. Online registration is not available for this program. These private lessons are a great option for anyone looking to have some additional one on one attention to improve on technique or get comfortable in a new type of boat. Lessons are also available to help individuals fit some rowing into a busy schedule. Lesson times may be booked to suit almost any schedule. Online registration is not available for this program. This program is intended for those looking to row for fun and fitness purposes. Participants will be given the opportunity to both scull and sweep. This program includes on-water training during the Spring, Summer and Fall with dryland training available during the Winter. Pre-requisite: Oval Tank Learn to Row and On-Water Learn to Row program OR previous rowing experience from another club.

This program is intended for para athletes looking to row for fun and fitness purposes with some desire to race in local or provincial competition. This program is suited for AS (arms and shoulders) or TA (trunk and arms) para rowers and will include on-water training during the Spring, Summer and Fall with dryland training available during the Winter.

Pre-requisite: Oval Tank Learn to Row and On-Water Learn to Row program OR previous rowing experience from another club.

Note: LTA (legs, trunk and arms) para athletes may choose to participate in this program, but would also have the option to join the Adult/Student Rowing League if that schedule was preferable.
