The ARC (Activities & Recreation Centre) at the Life Building will be opening at UBC in early 2018. Situated in the UBC Life Building (the former UBC Student Union Building), this new 8,000 sq ft. space complements the existing campus fitness facilities. The new centre is focused on creating a comfortable, welcoming, and inclusive environment for those new to the fitness and training activities.

Facility Features

  • 8,000 sq. ft of fitness centre and multi-purpose studio space
  • Universal changeroom facilities
  • Personal training specific space
  • Functional training space
  • Expanded fitness programming

The ARC is located in the UBC Life Building (formerly the old Student Union Building) on the basement and main level of the building. Throughout the spring and early summer of 2018, there will be ongoing construction in the area, so access to the ARC will require users to walk through the Life Building and use either the elevator or east stairs to reach the fitness centre and changeroom areas in the basement level.

Current fitness memberships at the BirdCoop will also be valid at the ARC until their expiration. Community, staff, and faculty memberships (1 month, 3 month, 9 month, and 1 year) will be valid for access to the ARC (and the BirdCoop) for the duration of their term. All student memberships will expire on April 30th.

Updated fitness membership rates will be available beginning May 1st.
